Day 01   Arrival – San Jose

Arrival. Meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to hotel for your first night in Costa Rica.

Overnight at Presidente Hotel, standard room, breakfast included.

Day 02   Sarapiqui

Today your driver/guided will pick you to start your trip to the Sarapiqui area. Set on the banks of the Puerto Viejo River, 42 miles North of San Jose and next to the Braulio Carrillo National Park, Sarapiqui, has become an important destination among tourists seeking for adrenaline adventure or to relax in an ambience surrounded by exotic nature. It is known as of the richest areas for bird watching. Here you will have the opportunity of stay with a local family. Our families offer visitors a rare opportunity to experience firsthand what it is like to live in rural Costa Rica. Share meals, conversation, and leisure time with a local family. This opportunity is sure to provide you with a unique cultural and linguistic experience!

Day 03  Chirripo River rafting class III+ SECTION

Pick up at your hotel in Sarapiqui area. The put-in place for this river is located at 240 meters above sea level and it is about 7 miles long. The main characteristic of this part of the river is the continuous and full rapids where rafters can have fun splashing and zigzagging through the waves. The scenery is very particular to this part of the river, with green lush vegetation combined with reddish stones left by the water and minerals from the volcano. The mouth of the river allows plenty of activity. It maintains one of the most constant water levels of any river in the country.

Arts and Crafts Class: This is an educational and creative class where you will learn from local artisans how to make jewelry with rainforest seeds, woodworking, painting, or palm frond weaving. All materials needed for the class is provided. At the end of the class, take your rainforest creation home with you.

Day 04 Arenal

After breakfast continue to the Arenal Area. Arenal’s perfectly symmetrical shape makes it a sightseer’s dream, while its abundance of outdoor activities makes it an easy place to check things off your “must-do in Costa Rica” list. So visit one of the nicest volcanoes in Costa Rica, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is just part of what you will find in this amazing area of Costa Rica.

Arenal Volcano Hike & Tabacon Hot Springs Late afternoon visit to the trails of El Silencio and the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Tabacon Hot Springs , where you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak and enjoy of a delicious dinner.

Day 05  Cultural Tour

Tour begins about 8:00 a.m., during the tour we will learn about the relationship and interaction of the inhabitants with the Arenal Volcano, its effects on land prices, the traditional way of living, agriculture, cattle breeding and its history, the living fences, and much more. Do you want to learn how to milk a caw? What a chapulín is? Yes, you can now do it when we visit Don Carlos and family who have being doing dairy farm labours over the last 30 years. The Vargas family awaits you to share the wonder experience of been a real “Costa Rican Lechero”. After de visit to the stable we will visit the cheese factory and the dairy, you will learn the milk process for products such as: cream, cheese and yogurt. Our second visit will be to the Primary School, the children will present us a some local folk dances and information about the educational system in Costa Rica, you will also have the chance for a very nice interaction with the children and the teacher, we also invite you to bring some school supplies if possible, as this is a low resources school. Later on we will take our way to the property of our farmer friends; at her house you will have the chance to try real Costa Rican tortillas or homemade bread, during our stay with them we will have the opportunity to do a little walk to see ornamental plants, yucca an pineapple plantations, different kinds of fruit trees as: passion fruit, oranges, grape fruit, bananas and others, at the end of the hike will have some season fruits as snack, then will say goodbye to our hosts and go for lunch. Pass midday we will drive to Doñas’ house, where we will be delighted with a typical lunch, Doñas’ is a senior lady who opens us her house doors, kitchen and heard as we say goodbye to our San Carlos Cultural Experience.

Day 06      Manuel Antonio (B)

After breakfast, a shuttle bus transfer will be provided to the world famous Manuel Antonio. Considered to be Costa Rica’s most beautiful, Manuel Antonio Park has enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and tropical rainforest forest alive with wildlife. Watch for the monkeys and iguanas who share the park with you. Most hotels are small and intimate, set high on a hill overlooking the rain forest, endless beaches and the national park. Day 07       Santa Juana Rural Mountain Adventure Tour

Day 08       San José

Visit the Manuel Antonio National park on your own In the afternoon you will be picked up at your hotel and you will be provided with a shuttle bus transfer back to San José.
