Day 1 Arrival – Granada

Upon arrival, our representative in Nicaragua, will pick you up at the International airport in Managua or the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, Peñas Blancas. Then you will be transferred to Granada for your first night in Nicaragua.

Built by the Spanish conquistadors in 1524, Granada is the best place for tourism because of its beauty and colonial architecture, charming hotels and activities to enjoy nearby; Lake Nicaragua and the islands, Mombacho volcano with its natural reserve, Masaya and its folklore…

Day 2 Masaya Volcano, Arts & Crafts (B)

Journey to Managua to admire the incredible Masaya Volcano, unique of its type in Latin America and shop for handicrafts in Masaya. Visit an active and dormant smoking crater. Visitors can peek over the edge at the Masaya Volcano, and look into the impressive crater, which is continuously emitting smoke and sulfur gases. From this central crater it is possible to start hiking to other craters or viewpoints. Then our driver will take you to the Arts Market where will have the opportunity to admire ceramics, woodcrafts, hammocks and Jewelry, Cigars, leather work & more! Before returning to the hotel, enjoy a panoramic view of Apoyo crater lake.

Day 3 Ometepe Island (B, L)

Take an unforgettable journey to one of the most beautiful places in Nicaragua. Ometepe Island, the biggest island on a fresh water lake in the world. It measures 276 square kilometers and it houses two majestic volcanoes connected through a small strip of land. The excursion starts by heading towards the southern part of the country, getting to San Jorge’s port where we will take a ferry that will take us to Ometepe, where you will be able to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of all Nicaragua. We will visit places like the, the Green Puddle’s lagoon, Santo Domingo beach, and “Ojo de Agua” water springs.

Day 4 Concepcion Volcano Hike (B)

With its 1610 meters, volcano Concepción is the highest and most prominent volcano on the island of Ometepe. The Concepción is a near perfect cone-shaped Volcano. During the challenging hike you will be able to see a great variety of plants and birds and enjoy some breathtaking views. But be aware, this volcano is active! Smoke is coming out of its crater, and there are other fumaroles on the volcano’s slope as well. Do you dare to climb the Concepción? You’ll need a lot of energy, stamina, and you should be in good condition to climb the Concepción. It is one of the toughest climbs in Nicaragua.

Day 5 Departure (B)

After breakfast, take the ferry back to mainland and then transfer back to Managua or Peñas Blancas (Costa Rican border)
